These accountability reports are published by School Wise Press,
a San Francisco-based publishing firm specializing in helping school districts
and state departments of education report facts about their schools to the
public. School Wise Press aims to raise the standards of accountability reporting,
enable school districts to meet the higher requirements of state and federal
law, and help parents gain a better understanding of the schools in their
communities.
Data Sources
Most of the data in these reports comes directly from the California
Department of Education (CDE), including test scores, the Academic Performance
Index, and adequate yearly progress data. This data is from the previous
school year.
Other data is self-reported by the schools and the district. Schools
report staff and student counts, and demographic information about students
and teachers to the CDE every year via a survey called the California Basic
Education Data System (CBEDS). School Wise Press obtains this survey
from the CDE.
Data about suspensions and expulsions, special program enrollment,
facilities, site spending, crimes on campus, and textbooks is self-reported
by the school district to School Wise Press specifically for publication
in school accountability reports. These data are also from the previous school
year.
Data reporting college attendance of high school seniors comes
from the California Post Secondary Education commission and usually dates
back to two years prior to the current school year.
For more information about the data in these reports, please
refer to the sources that appear within each report, or contact the school
principal or district office.
